A fun run during one of Europe’s best blues festivals? It might sound like a crazy idea! After long nights dancing and listening to world-class music in the late-night tent, the last thing most people expect is to wake up and go for a run. But that’s exactly what makes Boogie To The Van so much fun!
Every year, runners gather at the main stage of Romania’s Open Air Blues Festival in beautiful Brezoi, deep in the spectacular Lotru Valley of the Carpathian Mountains. Together we head out along river to Brezoi’s iconic VW hippie van, where we stop for photos, water, a few laughs, and maybe even catch our breath before turning around and running back to the festival.
The timing is always a balancing act. Start too early and everyone is still recovering from another unforgettable night of music. Start too late and the Romanian summer sun quickly reminds you who’s in charge! Somehow, every year, we get it just right.
What began in 2025 with just six adventurous runners doubled to twelve in 2026, and each year more festival goers discover that Boogie To The Van is one of the most memorable ways to experience the festival and its incredible surroundings.
The Open Air Blues Festival attracts music lovers from across Europe, Canada, the USA, and beyond, making this one of the most unique running events you’ll ever experience.
We are incredibly grateful to festival founder Mihai for embracing the idea from the very beginning and supporting us every step of the way.
Our second edition even welcomed a special guest runner, UK blues guitarist Ben Poole, who was performing at the festival. Who knows what surprises await in 2027?
In 2027, Boogie To The Van returns for its third edition as part of the festival’s spectacular 10th anniversary celebrations. With Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart already announced among the special guests, it is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting year yet.
